Monthly Channeled Message - December 2007

Many of you have seen your dramas played out in unexpected ways this past month.  There continues to exist for you an undercurrent of change and growth, and many of you are feeling knocked off center by this.  Understand that of course you are building new pathways, forging new roads, creating new growth and new branches in the tree that is your life.  But the beginning of this growth process is of necessity a clearing-away of the old that lies underneath, clearing away what no longer serves and what you no longer wish to hold within you.  This wish, of course, may not be at a conscious level and there is a part of you screaming to hold on to those familiar bits, even though at their core they may have created some of the very discomforts you are now experiencing.  And the irony of this does not escape you, does not escape us in our advisement of you, does not escape the Universe in its laughter at itself.

“So what do I do now?” you wonder.  “What can I do to hold onto myself?”

The trick is not in the holding, of course.  The trick is in the letting-go.

When you let go of what’s holding you, let go of your past hurts, your past injustices, your past discomforts, you create space that can be filled by every magical aspect of you that you wish to now bring in.  This is a time of clearing, then, a time of laying ground for that new growth that is to come, a time of preparation for what is next in your lives.  It’s also a time for thinking ahead just the tiniest bit: who are you, at core, and who do you wish to be?  Are those two selves at peace with one another or is there a gap between what you think you are and what you wish to be?  Finding peace with that gap may be one of the best things you can do for yourself at this time, then, and may help lay ground for its eventual closure.

Give yourself, then, this month, the time and the space to allow life to unfold as it will.  You have set things in motion and it is simply time to allow this part of the play, this portion of your dance, to play out.  There is a part of you that knows the next scene and is getting ready for it; allow that portion to rest as you enjoy what you have already begun.

More change!  What a surprise!

Not really.   But it seems that the nature of the transformation, where we are collectively in the process, is changing.  Interesting, no?

Monthly Message November 2007

This indeed is a season of change for many.  What began manifesting through natural events and through a sensation of transformation has grown into a much deeper experience for some.  Old patterns are being unearthed and examined, laying the fields bare for new thoughts, responses and reactions to eventually emerge, leaving behind what has been discarded to be used as energetic compost to assist others in similar patterns of experience.  Oh, do you feel you are the only one in the universe having this experience? Indeed you are not, and indeed there are many who share your experience, yes even THAT ONE, and it is through your undeniable connection that even allows you to acknowledge the truths of your own dark experiences, the ones you are just now coming to be able to shed light upon.  It is this shared experience, this universal and human commonality, that forever links you, forever, and inextricably links you, to everyone and everything else.  It can be no other way, do you see?

Think of yourself now, then, as but an atom in a field just recently cleared for harvest.  One atom amid thousands, millions, trillions of others, all awaiting the sunlight, the rain, and time to bring what will eventually be much growth and then another harvest.  It is an unending cycle, this cycle of clearing, waiting, growth, and harvest.  It occurs over and over and over again, and no part of this cycle can occur alone, no part is any less than any other part, and each part relies upon each of the others.  Do you see how it is all linked?  And you are but one atom in this field of incredible transformation, one atom forever a part of every other atom, forever a part of the entire growth and transformation and eventual death cycle, one atom without which the entire system would be incomplete.

It is this unending hopefulness that we wish to bring you today, this assurance that you ARE a necessary part of a whole, that you ARE indeed a wholeness yourself, that you ARE acting out of choice in every moment.  For all of these are true.  There is no choice you could make at any time that would lead to disaster not chosen, no choice you could make that would lead to difficulties you are unable to move through.  For you we wish to impart the thought that everything is simply a matter of perception; indeed, all change, all transformation, is only a difference in perception.  And if you come to varying places in your ability to perceive, it will indeed feel as if change has taken place within your life, will it not?

In the next month, then, you will continue to perceive differences in your perception.  How could you not?  The act of simply breathing brings a change in your perceptions.  Breathe in, breathe out.  Life is no more difficult than that.  In and out.  Round and round.  Change will occur around you even if you do nothing but breathe and stand still.  For time will pass, even though time is simply a way of perceiving in itself, and your perceptions will change.  And you will continue to feel transformation, sometimes wrenchingly, sometimes gently, but always present.  By moving into this possibility, by accepting your every breath as an agent of change, you create additional space for the transformation yet to come.

Breathe in, then, and create your own space.  Breathe out and prepare your fields.  Embrace yourself, for you ARE the change you see in the world.

Joy in the Forest: Honoring Our Connection With Nature

I’ve spent the past ten days in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, far from my present home in the northeast but closer, much closer, to my true spiritual home, and during this time one of my specific goals was to immerse myself into a deeper connection with nature. Though my home is in a semi-rural area, affording me an opportunity to frequently bike through rolling hills amid cornfields and farmhouses, I really don’t feel all that connected with the nature element of it usually. Perhaps it’s because I don’t connect energetically with the space, or resist a deeper connection; perhaps it’s the human element in a long-inhabited space that has overwritten the elements of nature, but in any case I felt a huge difference in my little cabin in the forest, a short walk from the beach, easily moving into a space of love and appreciation for nature and my place within it. I spent several hours roaming the trails through the forest, meandering along the beach, and standing in the rain under the trees at night.

And then I upped the ante considerably and spent some time in a different forest night before last. I think of it as Matthew’s forest, for he inhabits it completely, and it’s a huge part of him as well.

We entered the forest under a nearly-full moon, bright on a cloudless night, and instantly I felt a different sort of welcoming, an embrace, an invitation. Through connecting with the trees who are themselves all connected and always aware of that connection to one another, to the earth, and to All That Is, I could reach back into time and feel roots tapping into the dawning of human consciousness on the planet with such primordial innocence that it took my breath away. At the same time I was aware of every possibility that continues to stretch before us in time: possibilities for each one of us and all the myriad possibilities available at any given moment, every choice, every road taken and not taken, and I felt vast, knowing that I was a part of everything that ever has been and everything still yet to come. I was as tall as the trees and as bright as the moon, and I turned my face toward her, accepting the spotlight, fully acknowledging my completeness and perfection.

To say this was a joyous and magical experience doesn’t quite do it justice.

But it served as a wonderful reminder, one that I will take back to my home with me and one that I offer you now, that our connection with nature is an essential of simply being human. It’s part of us, and to deny it is to deny part of Self.

There is of course value in connecting with animals, trees, and other elements of what you consider to be “nature”. These elements, are of course, part of your home, part of your world, and are as such connected to you, to humans, in a very intimate way. You share space. You share air. You share resources. Not only that, but you share in the creation of your world, the global creation of the reality you know as life on the physical plane. And because of that, there is an undying connection between you as a human and ALL of the so-called “natural” elements of nature.

Some of you feel this connection more deeply, more emotionally, than others. Some feel a return, when confronted with nature, especially in her most raw state, to that innocent and childlike state of simply Being, existing, that lies dormant within all of you. And as such, you feel it deeply when one of nature’s children, one element of the intricate tapestry that is constantly being woven and re-created, moves through natural transition into another state. There is, for you, a deep sense of loss, as there is the recognition not only of the timelessness of transformation and the cycles of life on the planet, but also of the transference of human-type connection to an element of nature. You can mostly only experience connection with nature by transferring those feelings to a more human perspective, and when loss of an element of nature, such as a pet or tree, occurs, there is transference to the human state of grief.

We have mentioned the energetic connections between you and your pets and we wish to elaborate. Again, not only is there a very real symbolic connection here (discovery of Self, of Love, of perspective: these things were gained through and with your interaction), but also there HAVE in most cases indeed been some past-life associations. Though most animals live lives in mainly hive-type soul arrangements, there is a constancy of energy that can flow generation after generation through one individual animal to another, and even of course crossing boundaries of species. There has been for many of you, then, a common thread through many lifetimes of connection with various elements of nature, and it is this thread, now running through you and the pets you love, that has touched this present lifetime.

The lessons from connection to nature are many and varied and often depend on the individual, but regardless of perspective there is ALWAYS growth opportunity through human connection with nature. After all, it is your home. It is your LIFE. To deny nature is denying an aspect of Self, and to fully EMBRACE Nature, to ACCEPT it in all its splendor, ugliness, and beauty, is a HUGE step in actually accepting your Self.

Learning to Access Your Own Inner Wisdom

I think this is a good time to tell you a little more about me and my journey and how I came to be writing bits of spiritual wisdom from that journey here at Springing Light. After all, I didn’t start out as a channel and had to learn the process, making mistakes along the way!

At 18 I read the book “Messages From Michael” and was entranced. Not only did I find the material compelling and very familiar despite growing up in no spiritual tradition at all, but I was fascinated by the stories of those channeling the material presented in the book. It was the bits about channeling that were the most interesting to me: how did they do that? And what a wonderful gift! Could I be a channel one day?

Fast forward, then, several years and through much life experience until I began a search following experiencing debilitating symptoms of fibromyalgia. One thing lead to another and I was drawn ever closer to a very different world: studying world spiritual traditions, alternative healing practices, and various elements of the New Age movement. I was drawn to Reiki, first as a way to heal my pain but soon as a way of life, and from that arose an interest and facility with shamanism.

Now understand that I had always known, even before that time, that we receive messages from our intuition. But I thought that the process of really being in touch with that inner wisdom was capricious, coming and going and difficult to really rely on. And I often felt things without knowing them. I knew the information was there but I felt blocked from receiving it.

Often, though, I’d be talking to someone and they’d relay a difficulty they were having with someone in their life, perhaps, or a work situation, and I would suddenly have wonderful advice for them about matters I knew nothing about! I felt very wise and wished to help people.

Other times I knew I was receiving messages for myself but had difficulty interpreting them. One time I was driving en route to the airport to begin a much anticipated trip to the Bahamas, and I felt extremely anxious. I wondered if perhaps the plane we were scheduled to be on was going to crash, the anxiety was that deep. As it turns out all that happened was that we were late and missed our flight (which didn’t crash, by the way, as that would have been more of a story), and after that all the anxiety was relieved.

So how did I move from a state of knowing there is information out there for me within reach, and actually being able to access that information at will? That is what I am going to teach you to do for yourself. Everyone has this ability. Everyone can access their own inner wisdom. It’s a natural thing to do and we have simply allowed ourselves as a culture to feel powerless and alone instead of empowered and connected, which is our natural state.

So let’s start at the beginning. Knowing that each of us has the ability to channel, the ability to access intuition, guides, inner wisdom, the higher self, however you wish to think of it, is key. We all have this ability. As children we are born with it, and it is not something you can lose, although you can lose your belief in the ability.

In addition it’s important to realize, at least on some level, that you are never alone. We ARE connected, we ARE one. But being separate as we are, each of us in our own bodies, does lead to a sense of isolation and disconnection. If you are more connected to your inner you-ness, your essence, your soul, then you feel less alone.

How to reach inside, then, and connect with what’s there? For many of us, this concept is very alien and feels odd. So lets think of it instead as a conversation. You have conversations with people every day and think nothing of it. It’s not much of a stretch, then, to imagine having a conversation with yourself, is it?

So let’s do this: imagine a conversation in which you are taking part. Many of us do this naturally, thinking about what we said to an actual person or what we wish we had said, going over it and over it in our minds. But this time, instead of a “real” person, you are going to converse with your inner self, your higher self, if you will.

Sit comfortably. But don’t make a big deal of this, because that can lead to blocks and a sense of trying to make it bigger than it needs to be. There’s no need to add internal pressure to perform to this process! Just think about being open to both sides of a simple conversation. Don’t try to ask “important” questions of your inner self, as that may cause you to freeze while you wonder if what you are getting is “real” or not, or you just block up entirely.

For this exercise, imagine you are speaking to a friend, someone you have known for years, someone who knows you quite well. You are comfortable with this person, this inner self of yours. There is trust between you. Introduce yourself if you wish, and state your intention to become better acquainted with your essence, your higher self. Save important questions for another session; use this first one as simply a getting-acquainted session. Allow the conversation to flow where it will; this is important. Let it flow where it will and simply take note. And realize that once you do this, you will have found the way there and will always remember how to get there again. Each time to try the exercise, then, it will seem easier and more natural.

I use the time just before sleep as a mediative time when I speak to my guides and the entities I channel. You can use this time to your advantage also, becoming quiet in body and mind to allow yourself to be really open to the messages that arise for you. Don’t worry if nothing comes up that seems earthshattering; even the smallest of conversations hold a deeper meaning than you realize, and each encounter will help prepare you for deeper and deeper connections not only to others, your guides, but especially to yourself and the deep wisdom you possess.

Reconnecting to Your Source

All of us, each one of us, is connected to one another. We each are created from, formed of, and connected to the same genetic source material. This is such a universal truth that it appears in both religious literature and myth alike. The story of Genesis and the formation of us as humans is part of us, part of our heritage as a people, and the truth remains: we are connected, we are One.

Then why the pervasive feeling of separateness, of disconnection from where and how we began? Why can’t we feel connected to our source, connected to others and to the Universe, at all times?

The answer is both simple and complex: we chose the separation, each one of us, yet we can have that reconnection if we so desire.

Separation is a way of allowing us to become caught up in the illusions of the life experience so as to present ourselves and one another with growth opportunities. Simply put, we learn from interaction from one another, and if there was no interaction, we would not evolve. It is impossible to learn all there is about being human simply from interacting with the self.

We learn a great deal through conflict. Conflict arises from a feeling of disconnectedness, and without conflict there is often little impetus to interact and grow from that interaction. While it is certainly possible and often preferable to learn from places of joy, it is difficult for us to remain in that state long enough to allow the growth to permeate us; when in Joy we often are simply caught up in the wonder and beauty of it and neglect to utilize that time as well to grow and learn. It is a very human trait, then, to require conflict in order to grow.

That is not to say that conflict is desirable, simply that from it springs much to build a lifetime of evolution and growth.

While separation is part of the design of human evolution and growth, it certainly is not the natural state from whence we came, and often we feel a longing to return to that state of utter connectedness yet fee we have lost the way to get there.

It is one thing to say and acknowledge, “I am One with you, we are all One,” and it is quite another thing to hold that belief inside us, in our hearts and even down to a cellular level. How, then, to get there? How can we hold that knowingness inside us, so that it may be present to comfort us, to guide us, to allow us to remain connected with all that we are?

It is really quite simple.

All you need to do is to allow the connection.

“Allow the connection”? What does that mean, in real terms?

It means stepping into that place rather than forcing your way in. It means holding the idea of being connected to source at all times, holding it within you as a real possibility. It means, also, letting yourself deserve that reconnection.

Let’s talk for a moment about what we deserve. We all are here on this planet on a level playing field, meaning that we all, since we are of course connected and part of the One, deserving of the same experiences, the same opportunities. You likely believe this on various levels pertaining to human rights, civil rights, and the like. We are One. But going to you, yourself, thinking about only yourself, do you give yourself the same opportunities for joy and happiness that you allow for others? Or do you see yourself as perhaps having to work a little harder, a little longer, for the same growth that you fully believe others are deserving of?

Do you really believe that you deserve to be connected to your inner source?

If you are human, then you are deserving of the human experience. Period. And allowing a reconnection to our source is certainly and most positively part of the human experience.

Again, then, allowing the connection to Source means letting go of who you think you are and letting in all the myriad magical possibilities of who you could be. For all those possibilities are also You. You are far larger than you perceive. In fact, you are not only who you think you are and the millions of imagined possibilities of who you are, but you are also all the yous that ever have been, all the yous who ever existed in your imagination or otherwise, throughout your entire life. All those possibilities, whether real or imagined, are all a part of the larger You that is. And when you acknowledge all those possibilities, acknowledge your Self in all its grand bigness and perfection, you allow connection to Source, for it is through the You that is that your connection exists.

It is through the You That Is that your connection to your Source exists.

And it is by allowing and acknowledging all your myriad possibilities, tens of thousands upon millions of them, that you regain your connection to the One that is you.

The Empty Lure of Emotional Connection

When we are small we depend wholly upon others for everything: for sustenance, for safety, for all our physical and emotional needs. As infants we are unable, at first, to meet these needs with what we possess inside us, so we reach out to those nearest us, literally cry out, from our sense of helplessness and inability to meet our own needs.

As we grow we are presented with opportunities to begin meeting these needs ourselves. The job of parents is to prepare children in a gradual process to be capable of functioning as an independent person who can easily access the infinite strength, wisdom, and grace that we each possess inside us.

However, in more cases than not, something goes awry in this process. After all, parents are not perfect superhuman creatures without needs and issues of their own. In addition, as we grow up we are confronted with many, many people, each different and each with desires, perceptions, and issues that twist the process for us just a little more. Adding to that, we typically make choices within our lives that provide us with growth and learning opportunities, little stumbling blocks that give us an opportunity to pause and take note.

In the end, then, we find ourselves as adults more often than not feeling less than whole, less than complete, and less than able to meet our needs, especially emotional ones, ourselves.

So we naturally turn to sources outside ourselves, usually to other people.

It is quite common, then, upon making an emotional connection with someone, especially in the confines of an intimate relationship, to begin to give over to them the job of meeting our emotional needs for us. It begins innocently enough: asking for thoughts, ideas, input, and assistance with solving problems. We are conditioned to think that this is part of what takes place within a relationship. The other person, feeling love for us, wishes to please and wishes to help. Why would they not?

What occurs then is an imbalance of energy between the partners. There is a constant shifting taking place to correct this imbalance, which in turn makes both members of the relationship uncomfortable. It turns into a never-ending cycle that feeds upon itself. Many relationships function like this in a dual manner, i.e. both partners are meeting one another’s emotional needs, or attempting to, yet both partners feel perpetually drained.

If one member of such a relationship would then choose to end that cycle and break that connection between them, they would immediately feel an immense relief, much like that of giving birth. After all, they are no longer functioning for two!

The other, now bereft, member of the relationship would feel a sudden loss, resulting in pain. Without that emotional lifeline they feel lost and adrift on what suddenly feels like a very stormy and unfriendly sea.

In this instance, which occurs often, both members require healing.

To avoid this sure path to pain, either your own or as the cause of someone else’s, it’s important to maintain a constant state of connection with your own truth, your own inner and infinite source of wholeness.

There’s an oft-repeated phrase from the movie “Jerry Maguire” that has likely set many hearts afire since the movie was made: “You complete me.”

The problem is, the statement is a lie.

No one and nothing can complete you but yourself.

You are ALREADY complete and whole. By reaching outward to feel that sense of wholeness, you immediately deny the wealth that you already posses, and by doing so you disconnect yourself with the one true source of all your love, all your energy, all your power.

You may be asking, How do I connect with my inner source? Do I really possess all that? Am I really whole and complete, right now?

Here’s an exercise I wrote to assist you in accessing your own inner wholeness:

 

Reaching Inward

Go outside into nature, or as close to nature as you can. This can be a park, a forest, the beach, or even simply the street outside your house or your yard. Gathering all the energy you can muster, tense yourself as if you are going to scream as loudly as you can. Instead of actually screaming, however, instead send all that energy inward, deep within you. At that moment, when you feel you have reached your deepest inner place, reach in with the scream and take hold of what’s there, bringing it back with you in your hand. Now release the scream and examine what’s in your closed hand.

Perhaps you see nothing, but you are holding the way to your innermost sense of strength. You can draw upon this again and again, and this exercise is best performed several times over the course of a few weeks. And over those weeks you will begin to remember the way to that inner place without having to send such a blast of energy inward to reach it.

You may also repeat to yourself: I am whole and complete.

After having performed this exercise for awhile you will begin to notice that you feel more centered, more balanced. You will feel more YOU.

And then you will feel less like you need to submit to the empty lure of emotional connection, and instead can begin to enjoy those connections simply for what they are, rather than what they give you.

Monthly Channeled Message - October 2007

Here’s another message for you from the Michael entity, based on what’s happening in the lives of whomever will be reading this. I find it wonderful how spot-on these have been for so many people. The entire year’s messages can be found over at LightSpring Transformations.

You have been awaiting further confirmation of what has been transpiring of late, and we wish at this time to show you how you already have access to this information, access to the deep inner recesses of yourself. There is no separation as you perceive. You are always connected to your inner resources, whether or not you have awareness of this. The trick, then, is to expand your awareness so that its sphere includes that which you feel is a separate thing from you.

This past month has been a transformative one for many of you. Both inner and outward changes have resulted from the alterations in perception you have engulfed. For many, this was a painful process; for others, there was more peace in it. There is no right or wrong or judgment attached to either path, though it may be helpful for those who experienced pain to understand that the pain itself was a choice: perhaps to obtain your attention, perhaps to learn from the experience of pain, perhaps for other reasons. But of course you may ALWAYS choose a different path by which to reach the same result.

We wish, then, to give you some tools this day to help you take a different path the next time such a transformative time is at hand.

Stand before a mirror, and look at the reflection of your image you see there. Ponder this: is this image you see your WHOLE self? Does it accurately reflect the ENTIRETY of you? Or is it simply an image in a polished surface? Which is more real, the image or the surface itself? Which can you touch? Raise your hand and caress yourself through the image in the mirror. Really reach through and imagine not only the touch of your face through your fingers, but also the receipt of such touch. Really imagine this. Try to feel warm flesh rather than cold glass.

Oh, you try and try, but still the reality of the cold glass is there, is it not? Yet you are aware that there is more to you, MUCH more, than what you see or can feel before you.

The next time, then, you begin to feel pain as a result of the enormous changes that occur for you AT ALL TIMES, step back and remember how you perceived the greater YOU even though you could only feel the image of you. Remember the difference between the wholeness of YOU and the part. You can then access this whole You AT ANY TIME, and realize that there is ALWAYS something greater than what can be perceived through an image. Always.

This next month we see of course a continuation of the changes wrought in the immediate past. How could there not be? Much energy is afoot here and some of you may be embracing change as a means of moving through some very old patterns. The more you embrace this, the easier it will be to accept these patterns as part of yourself. By accepting these patterns rather than RESISTING them, you connect more with the wholeness of You and therefore can feel more connected to the utter joy that is within you, always there and always present and always accessible to you. It is our wish for each of you to know, if you choose, the joy that comes from connecting to the Love that is each of you.

Riders on the Storm: Moving Through Your Transformations

It’s a basic life truth that we are always changing, always evolving, always transforming. Even when we feel at our most static we are still in a state of change. Sometimes change feels absolutely wonderful and sometimes it comes from a place of deep pain.

I love it when I feel in control of my life and where I’m headed, and when I feel creative and “on top” of things. it’s a heady time, filled with movement and energy and excitement. It’s a total rush, not unlike how it feels to plunge down a steep rollercoaster: there’s a sense of anticipation, of moving forward, of sheer joy.

The flip side of this are the dark times. Often inner pain builds up to such an extent that it seems to completely take over. Nothing feels right, nothing goes well, everything is dark and it’s nearly impossible to envision a time when things will get better, or indeed, when things ever were better. All you want then is to make the pain go away.

You can do this a number of ways. Some people push it away, stuffing it more deeply inside themselves. Of course, it will always resurface again sometime later, and usually it will bring along a friend or two, so there’s more to deal with.

Some people numb themselves by self-medicating or simply by becoming inured to what life has to offer. They are numb to both the joys and the pits, but at least there’s little pain there.

It seems ironic, but the most effective way in the long-term is simply to allow the pain. Notice it, embrace it, let it be there without attaching judgment to what comes with it.

We’ve attached the notions of dark and light to our emotions. Dark emotions are thought of as intense and often painful, negative, while light emotions are thought of as happy and joyous, buoyant, and positive.

I’d like to help you move into a space of being more accepting of ALL your emotions and therefore removing judgment from them. And in doing so, you’ll also be able to more easily move into a space that accepts your transformations, whether from joy or pain, as the two are really one and the same. In other words, joy and pain are simply two aspects of Love.

Imagine you are awake and indoors in the very early morning, before the sun rises. It’s fully dark outside and you have kept the lights off indoors. You are enjoying the darkness and stillness that comes from being awake and aware in the night. You are alone and you revel in your solitude.

You move through whatever occupies you at this time and after awhile look up toward a window and notice the faintest glimmer of light; you’re aware it is dawning. The windows glow a bit and you feel something has shifted. You no longer feel alone and instead have a greater awareness to the world outside simply because there is more light.

Again you move your awareness to what occupies you. After a time, though, you again notice what has taken place around you: it is fully light outside and the light now lights your indoor activities. It is bright and fully daytime; the sun has risen.

That’s very much like what takes place during transformation. All the darkness and all the light are simply two aspects of the entire day, of the entire interactive experience with the sun, are they not? And you move through these spaces even though you don’t fully notice the change occurring around you. The transition from darkness to light is almost imperceptible, is it not? Yet it occurs even without your involvement or even your direct awareness, and when it is fully light you finally can bring your full awareness to it.

It is the same with riding the storms of your personal transformations. You may feel all manner of darkness and pain, but if you sit back a bit, detach from the experience a little and allow movement, before long the movement is noticeable, which then allows you to invite still more movement, and soon you are feeling fully in the light again.

It is by removing emotional attachment to which aspect of the process you are in, i.e. in the darkness or in the light, that allows the seamless transitions from one to the other, and allows this constant change with far less pain and far more joy.

On Allowing Fears

I’ve begun to use the term allowing quite a bit, both in my work and in life in general, and it has struck me that although it’s fairly straightforward to understand the term intellectually, getting there through emotions and really knowing what it is on an intrinsic level can be something else entirely. And then when you put allowing and fears together in the same phrase, there can be widespread panic! What does this mean, exactly?

You might phrase the question this way:

How would you suggest allowing fears? I understand about allowing as a concept intellectually but have such a hard time with it otherwise. What does it feel like? And HOW, exactly, can one move to a space of allowing?

What is important here to consider are the actions that are actually taking place. Everything, as you know, can be broken down into terms of simple movement of energy. Energy, then, and its movement and the effects of such movement, can be considered the building blocks of life experience. Everything hinges upon energy and the manipulation of it. Everything.

Therefore, we must discuss what is actually taking place on a very specific basis during the process termed “allowing”.

Allowing is a space of receiving. It is openness with no additional requirements. There is nothing to do, per se, there is only a space in which to be. Is that clear? There is no action required beyond that of existence itself. No action. None.

Ponder, then, the possibilities here. Ponder the repercussions. What does this mean, exactly? How does this translate into your everyday life?

If one is totally and completely open, inviting in experience, and there is no further action, what does this mean? It means there are no thoughts, for instance, required. It means there are no expectations. It means there is no “right” or “wrong”. There is NOTHING to do, then, other than experience what comes as a result of this invitation. Simply experience it. Not analyze it, or categorize it, or change it or quantify it. You only need experience it.

Therefore, when I speak of allowing one’s fears, you know that I mean that you must only invite them, in their perfect completeness, to inhabit you fully. There is nothing more and nothing less.

You needn’t even acknowledge them, and you certainly needn’t face them. As I said, there is nothing more to allowing than simply inviting an experience.

You may ask, But fears are frightening, and uncomfortable! I will certainly have a reaction of some sort, won’t I? I am afraid of how it will feel!

Those are valid fears. As fears themselves, they may also simply be allowed. Invite them in, in their perfect wholeness. Understand that you may have reactions, that you may feel uncomfortable. Allow those feelings as well. There is room for all! You may choose to notice those feelings, and that can often be useful, but note that even that is not necessary.

But you still may have questions:

I still don’t understand. I mean, I do on an intellectual basis. It makes perfect sense. But I know that when I am IN fear, things seem illusory. How can I not lose myself in that fear and lose sight of reality? What can I do to remain balanced?
Realizing that there are times of varying realities can be helpful, especially in reducing anxiety when the shifts occur, but this is not necessary. Understanding that the fear can be allowed even if you are not conscious of it and not feeling perfectly balanced reduces some of the onus upon you, does it not? Give yourself the freedom of having ups and downs, of feeling imbalanced, while at the same time knowing that you will at some point return to center. As you become more accustomed to moving through your own personal spectrum of emotion, this movement toward center will occur more easily and likely more quickly. You are already aware of that. So trust yourself, then, to have the ability to return to center despite the amount of disconnectedness from what you perceive as reality that you may feel at a given time.

Here is an exercise that will assist you with moving consciously into a space of allowing:

Imagine you are standing at the very top point of a pyramid. This pyramid is one that appeared on the earth a very long time ago, and since that time the stones have become worn in the winds and shifting sands. You stand there and feel the heat of the sun pouring down upon you, warming you thoroughly. The stones under your feet are warm as well, which you can feel through the soles of your bare feet. The rough stones give ample sure footing even though you are in some ways poised up there precariously.

You stand there, feeling a slight breeze, feeling the warmth of the sun and the stones, and you survey what is around you. You feel a sudden shift, a wrenching in the fabric of time almost, and you realize that you have been dropped suddenly into a time when the pyramid you stand upon was quite new. The stones feel different now under your feet, still bare, and the very air shimmers slightly. The smells in the slight breeze are unfamiliar. You have no idea how you got there and even though there is a marked familiarity, there is a terror of feeling alien within a potentially hostile world. You are almost in a state of panic as you realize that a large number of people are excitedly gesticulating toward you from the ground. You have no idea what to do next and you can do nothing other than remain rooted where you are, awaiting whatever it is that is going to occur in this strange drama you have found yourself in.

A thought strikes you that it is the same sun that still warms you from above. You feel a sudden comfort in this knowledge that at least there is something familiar to you. You look out again at your surroundings and realize they are familiar once again, at least as familiar as they ever were to you. And the sun still warms the stones underneath your feet.

You see, then, how perfect simply inviting and allowing is, even fears. The sun is always present in your life, and whether you can feel them or not, those stones always remain warm under your feet. You always have the power and ability to be in complete perfection, just as you are.

Monthly Channeled Message - September 2007

I’ve been channeling a monthly message and posting them over at LightSpring Transformations, where you can read the entire year’s messages and see where you’ve been and how far you’ve come this year!
